STS is pleased to announce that it will upgrade Emvelink to meet new EMVCo 4.3 standards
Although STS' Emvelink Level 2 Kernel (release 5.5) for contact based Chip and PIN transactions is currently approved with the major manufacturers terminals against EMVCo specification 4.2 (a), the respective EMVCo Level 2 Letters of Approval are due to expire on 15 January 2013.
With a view to assisting its partners and their retail customers to potentially extend the life of their existing terminal estates, STS will be upgrading its Emvelink Level 2 kernel for contact based Chip and PIN transactions, supporting the latest 4.3 version of EMVCo contact chip specification entitled 'Integrated Circuit Card Specification for Payment Systems'.
As part of this process, STS will obtain EMVCo Level 2 approval for its Emvelink Level 2 kernel with a variety of PIN pads from leading terminal manufacturers. The Emvelink upgrade is expected to be completed in August 2012, with the new respective EMVCo Letters of Approval being received for October 2012, ensuring continuous EMVCo approval coverage for STS' partners and their retail customers until September 2015.
Emvelink is STS' software based EMVCo certified Level 2 Kernel for contact Chip and PIN transactions. It is used in over 140,000 points of sale in the UK, Europe and North America and is regarded as the world's leading EMV Level 2 software kernel.
